Binnacle: city of the dead

nobody ever went to the mirage village. the cilindrical constructions and spiral roads were build on top of a razor sharp rocky formation which divided the east beach almost in half. there were no roads leading there, the access was treacherous. with the tide gone out, the area around the rocks became swampy at best. quicksands devoured anyone and everything. when the tide came in a twisted current in the lagoon carried infortunates to be shread by the rocks. it was safe to glide over the village, but there were no safe landing spots no ways to get into the air again. those who have done this say the place is a ghost town, there's nobody there. but if that's so then why are there faint colored lights coming from there at nights of full moon? and why are the buildings still standing intact after the wildest storms?
